Is the Acer Chromebook 315 worth it?

At the recent low of $141.00 it is a strong value for browsing, schoolwork and streaming on a big touchscreen. At the $179.00 high it is less compelling, since the N50 chip and limited memory cap what it can do.

Does it have 4GB or 8GB of RAM?

The name says 8GB but the listed memory is 4GB, so confirm the configuration with the seller before buying. Either way, Chrome OS runs fine for light use but many open tabs will strain it.

How long does the battery last?

Acer claims up to 15 hours. Real-world use with the screen at moderate brightness typically lands well short of that, but a full day of light work is realistic.

Can it run Windows apps like Office or Photoshop?

No. It runs Chrome OS, so you use web apps and Android apps from the Play Store; full desktop Windows software will not install.

Is the screen good for drawing or note-taking?

The 15.6-inch 1080p touchscreen is fine for tapping, scrolling and light stylus-free notes. It is a 60Hz panel without pen support, so it is not a serious drawing tablet.

The lowest recent price was $141.00 on November 3, against $179.00 on November 2. Budget Chromebooks like this usually drop around back-to-school and Black Friday, so waiting for a sale below $150 is reasonable.
