About the Merax Lightweight 4-Piece Expandable ABS Hardshell Spinner Luggage Set

The Merax 4-Piece Expandable ABS Hardshell Spinner Set is a budget travel set of four nesting suitcases in a coffee finish, each with four spinner wheels and expandable zippers. The ABS shell keeps weight down and the price low, but it flexes more than polycarbonate and is not the toughest option for rough baggage handling. At $159.24 at Home Depot as of November 5, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against; at roughly $40 per case it sits at the low end of hardshell sets.

Questions and answers

Is this set worth it compared with buying cases separately?
At $159.24 for four expandable spinner cases, it costs less than most single mid-range hardshell suitcases. Expect budget-level durability in return.
What sizes are in the four-piece set?
The set nests four cases of increasing size, from a carry-on up to a large checked case. Check the listed dimensions before buying if you need a specific carry-on size for an airline.
Does the shell hold up to checked baggage?
ABS is lighter and cheaper than polycarbonate but flexes more. It handles normal travel, but rough handling can dent or crack it, so many owners use the larger pieces for car trips.
Are the cases expandable?
Yes, each case has an expansion zipper that adds a few inches of depth when you overpack.
Do the cases have a TSA lock?
No. There is no built-in lock, so add a TSA-approved padlock if you check the bags.
When is the best time to buy?
Luggage sets usually drop around back-to-school and Black Friday sales. At $159.24 it is already priced at the low end for a four-piece hardshell set.
