Is the HW-Q990H worth it at $1,049.99?

That is close to its recent low of $950.72 and far below the $1,497.99 high, so it is a good moment to buy if you want a full 11.1.4 setup. You get the bar, subwoofer and two rear speakers in one box.

Do I need a Samsung TV to use it?

No. It works with any TV over HDMI or optical, and wireless Dolby Atmos works with compatible Samsung TVs. Q-Symphony and some sound modes need a recent Samsung TV.

How does it compare with the HW-Q990D?

The Q990H keeps the 11.1.4 layout and 8-inch subwoofer and adds refinements to bass control and voice processing. If you already own a Q990D, the upgrade is small; coming from an older bar, the jump is large.

The soundbar, wireless subwoofer, two rear speakers, remote, wall-mount bracket and cables. You supply HDMI cables for wired sources.

How wide is the soundbar?

It is 48.5 inches wide, so check your TV stand or plan to wall-mount it. The bar suits TVs roughly 55 inches and up.

It has traded between about $950 and $1,500 since late October 2026, and sale periods such as Black Friday tend to bring the lowest prices. Set a price alert rather than buying at the high end.
