Is the ROG Strix G16 G614FM worth it?

For a 16-inch gaming laptop with a 1 TB SSD and an NVIDIA GPU, it is a reasonable pick if you mostly game at a desk. If you need all-day battery or light weight, look at thinner 14-inch models instead.

Can I upgrade the RAM and storage?

Yes. It ships with 16 GB and supports up to 32 GB, and the 1 TB SSD can be swapped for a larger drive. Check the service manual before opening the chassis.

How is the battery life?

Expect a few hours of light use and much less while gaming. Plan to keep the charger nearby for long sessions.

Is the 1920 x 1200 screen good enough?

Yes for gaming, where the GPU can drive high frame rates at that resolution. The 16:10 shape also gives more vertical room for work.

What comes in the box?

The laptop, its power adapter and standard paperwork. A mouse and headset are not included.

Gaming laptops like this tend to drop during back-to-school and holiday sales. Watch the price history and buy when it sits near the low end of its recent range.
