Is the HP 17.3-inch i3-N305 laptop worth it at $399.99?

At $399.99 at Staples as of November 8, 2026, it is a fair price for a 17-inch laptop with an SSD. It suits browsing, email and office work; it is not a good fit if you need a sharp screen or heavy performance.

Is the screen really 1600 x 900?

Yes. The 17.3-inch panel is 1600 x 900, which is below full HD and looks soft at this size. Check the listing carefully if sharp text matters to you.

Can it run games or video editing?

Only lightly. The Core i3-N305 and integrated graphics handle casual and older games and basic editing, but not modern titles or demanding timelines.

Does it have USB-C and HDMI?

Yes. It has USB-A, USB-C and HDMI ports, so you can connect a monitor and common accessories without an adapter.

How does it compare with a 15.6-inch laptop?

You get a much larger screen and a full keyboard area for about 4 lb, but a bigger footprint and lower pixel density than most 15.6-inch full HD models.

It has been listed new at 9 stores, and $399.99 at Staples as of November 8, 2026 is near the bottom of its recent range. Watch for holiday sales for anything lower.
