About the AWOL Aetherion Max

The AWOL Aetherion Max is a compact ultra-short-throw projector rated at 3,300 ISO lumens with a 6,000:1 native contrast ratio and a dynamic iris. It targets buyers who want a big image from inches away, with PixelLock edge-to-edge sharpness and anti-rainbow-effect processing for 2D and 3D. Its best new price is $2,395.95 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, with two stores listing it new. That is a premium price for a UST projector, so the value depends on how much you need short-throw placement and bright-room output.

Best forLiving rooms with ambient lightRenters who can't ceiling-mount a long-throw projector3D and big-screen movie fansSmall rooms needing a large image from close to the wall
Pros
  • 3,300 ISO lumens handles moderate room light
  • 6,000:1 native contrast with dynamic iris for deeper blacks
  • Ultra-short throw fits tight spaces
  • PixelLock keeps corners sharp
  • Anti-RBE reduces rainbow artifacts in 2D and 3D
Cons
  • $2,395.95 is high for a single-projector purchase
  • UST setups need a compatible ALR screen, sold separately
  • No built-in streaming or speakers confirmed in the listed specs
  • Only two stores list it new, so price competition is thin

    • What reviewers say

The rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 100 ratings, and AWOL's page cites buyers praising it at 5.0 out of 5 from 8 reviews. Reception is strong but based on a small sample.

    Pros
    • Bright picture in lit rooms
    • Deep blacks for a UST projector
    • Sharp corners and clean 3D
    Cons
    • High price
    • Screen and setup costs add up

    Questions and answers

Is the Aetherion Max worth $2,395.95?
If you need a bright ultra-short-throw image and can't mount a long-throw projector, yes. If you have a dark room and ceiling space, a cheaper long-throw model gives similar picture quality.
Do I need a special screen?
Yes for best results. UST projectors pair with ambient-light-rejecting screens, which cost extra and are not included in the projector-only option.
    What is in the box?
The listed option is projector only. Expect the projector itself, with no screen, streaming stick or speakers confirmed in the specs.
How bright is it in a lit room?
3,300 ISO lumens is bright for a UST projector and should hold up in a living room with some light. Direct sunlight on the screen will still wash it out.
    Does it support 3D?
Yes. The anti-RBE processing covers 2D and 3D, and you will need active-shutter 3D glasses, sold separately.
    When is it cheapest?
Only two stores list it new, so discounts are limited. Watch for holiday sales at eBay and the second store rather than expecting frequent cuts.
