About the Hexgears Nova Aluminum TKL RGB Mechanical Keyboard

The Hexgears Nova is a tenkeyless wired mechanical keyboard with a full aluminum case and Kailh BOX Brown tactile switches. It connects over USB-A and works with Windows, Linux and Mac. The price has held flat: $45 at Mechanical Keyboards as of November 6, 2026, the same as its low since October 30, 2026. At that price an aluminum-bodied TKL is unusual.

    • Questions and answers

Is the Hexgears Nova good for a first mechanical keyboard?
Yes, if you want tactile switches and a metal case without spending much. It is wired and not hot-swappable, so you cannot swap switches later.
Are the Kailh BOX Brown switches clicky?
No. BOX Brown is tactile with a bump but no audible click. The clicky version is BOX White, which is not the switch fitted here.
    Can I change the switches?
No. The Nova is not hot-swappable, so switches are soldered in place.
Does it work with a Mac?
Yes. Hexgears lists Windows, Linux and Mac compatibility over USB-A. Expect to remap some keys for macOS.
    What is in the box?
The keyboard and its attached 60-inch USB-A cable. No wireless dongle or extra accessories are listed.
    Is $45 a good price?
It matches the lowest price seen since October 30, 2026, so there is no cheaper recent point to wait for. Two stores list it new at that price.
