Is this kit worth buying over a name-brand combo?

Only at a clear discount. Name-brand kits cost more but come with written warranties, listed batteries and replacement parts. This one has none of those, so treat it as a disposable light-duty set.

Are the batteries compatible with other 20V tools?

Unknown. Unbranded 20V packs often use their own connector and are not cross-compatible with DeWalt, Makita or Ryobi. Assume the batteries only work with these two tools unless the seller states otherwise.

Does it have a variable speed trigger?

The specs say no and list two speeds instead. That means you get stepped speed settings rather than fine trigger control, which matters for driving small screws.

Is the lack of an NRTL listing a problem?

It is a legitimate concern. A UL, ETL or CSA mark means the charger and batteries were tested for electrical safety. Without one, charging unattended is a risk.

A 1/2 in drill, a 1/4 in impact driver, two 2.0 Ah batteries and a charger. Bits, drill bits and a case are not listed.

When is the best time to buy?

No price data is available for this kit, so there is no seasonal pattern to point to. Compare against name-brand entry kits before buying.

Our take on the 20V Cordless 2-Tool Power Combo Kit with 2.0 Ah Batteries

A two-tool 20V kit pairing a 1/2 in drill and a 1/4 in impact driver with two 2.0 Ah batteries and a charger. It claims brushless motors and two speeds, but it is an unbranded kit with no written warranty and no NRTL safety listing. The listing also calls the power type corded electric, which contradicts the 20V cordless name. No current price was provided, so there is no price history to compare against.
