Is this tub worth it over a plain soaking tub?

If you want massage, yes: you get 10 water jets and 21 air injectors in one shell, which a plain soaker cannot match. If you mostly want a hot soak, a simpler tub costs less and has fewer parts to service.

Does it fit a standard alcove?

No. At 72 x 36 inches it is a drop-in tub meant for a custom tile deck or platform, not a three-wall alcove with an apron. Measure the deck opening and confirm floor support before ordering.

Can the drain go on either side?

Yes. The drain is reversible, so it can be set for left- or right-hand installation to match your plumbing. Confirm the rough-in location with your plumber before the deck is framed.

Can I use the whirlpool and air massage at the same time?

Yes. The two systems run independently or together, so you can choose water jets, air bubbles, or both. Expect the water to cool over a long soak, since no inline heater is listed.

What comes in the box?

The tub shell with its jet and air systems and the reversible drain fittings. The pump, blower and controls are part of the unit, but the deck, faucet and filler are not included.

When is the price lowest?

Whirlpool tubs tend to discount around bathroom-remodel sales and end-of-year clearance. Check the price history on this page before buying rather than assuming a sale price is the floor.

Our take on the 72x36 EOW Whirlpool and Air Bath Combination Tub

The EOW 72x36 is an oval drop-in acrylic tub that combines a 10-jet whirlpool with a 21-injector air massage, so you can run water jets, air bubbles, or both. The Lucite acrylic shell has a high-gloss finish, and the reversible drain lets it fit left- or right-hand plumbing. At 72 by 36 inches it is a two-person-length soaking tub that needs a custom deck or platform. It is a large, feature-heavy fixture, so plan the rough-in and deck framing before you buy.
