Our take on the 78" Corduroy Boneless Twin Size Convertible Futon Sofa Bed

A 78-inch corduroy futon that folds flat into a twin-size sleeper, aimed at small apartments, guest rooms and studios where one piece has to do two jobs. The boneless build means a soft, low-slung seat rather than a firm frame, and the corduroy cover gives it a warmer look than typical linen futons. It is a budget-tier piece, so expect light-duty use rather than nightly sleeping for years.

Questions and answers

Is this futon good for sleeping every night?
No. The boneless, lightly padded build is meant for occasional guests. For nightly sleeping, a real mattress or a futon with a firm frame holds up far better.
How big is it when folded flat?
It lays out as a twin sleeper at 78 inches long and 40 inches deep, which fits most adults stretched out. Check your room's walkway space before you commit, since 78 inches is longer than a standard couch.
Does the corduroy cover come off for washing?
No removable, machine-washable cover is listed. Spot-clean the fabric and vacuum it, and use a throw or mattress protector where guests sleep.
Will it fit through a standard doorway?
It ships partly assembled and is light enough for one person to move, but measure your door and stairwell against the 78-inch length. Tight turns and narrow halls are the usual problem.
Is it firm enough to sit on comfortably?
It sits soft and low, closer to a floor cushion than an upright sofa. Shoppers with back issues should add a bolster or choose a futon with a rigid frame.
