Our take on the 8 Gallon Wet Dry Shop Vacuum 6 Peak HP Metal Tank

This is a corded wet/dry shop vacuum with an 8-gallon metal tank and a 6 peak HP motor, built for garage, workshop and carpet cleanup. The metal drum resists dents and holds up to rough jobs better than plastic tanks. At $98.99 at Lowe's as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the low end of what 8-gallon metal-tank vacs usually cost.

Questions and answers

Is 6 peak HP enough for a shop vacuum?
Peak HP is measured at the motor's stall point, so real suction is lower. A 6 peak HP motor is typical for 8-gallon home shop vacs and is fine for sawdust, leaves and spills.
Can it pick up water?
Yes. It is a wet/dry vacuum with wet suction, so it can take up spills, but you must remove the dry filter and fit a wet filter first.
Is the metal tank better than plastic?
A metal tank resists dents and cracks and handles hot debris better. It is heavier than plastic, which matters if you carry it between floors.
What comes in the box?
The listing does not spell out the hose and nozzle set. Confirm the hose diameter and included attachments before buying, since they vary by model.
Is $98.99 a good price?
It is a low price for an 8-gallon metal-tank vac, and only one store lists it new at that price as of November 7, 2026. Compare against plastic-tank 8-gallon models, which often cost less.
Does it work on carpet?
Yes, it is rated for carpet and rugs, and wet suction helps with shampoo extraction. A dry filter is needed for everyday carpet vacuuming.
Where is the 8 Gallon Wet Dry Shop Vacuum 6 Peak HP Metal Tank cheapest?
At Lowe's, for $98.99, as of our latest check.
