Our take on the 8BitDo SN30 Pro Bluetooth Controller

The 8BitDo SN30 Pro is a compact Bluetooth gamepad styled after the Super Nintendo controller, with dual analog sticks, a D-pad, four shoulder buttons and a rechargeable battery. It pairs over Bluetooth with Windows, macOS, Android and Switch, and can be wired over USB-C. The G Classic Edition is the gray colorway. It is a retro-styled all-rounder rather than a full-size modern pad, so it suits 2D games and portable setups better than long competitive sessions.

Questions and answers

Is the SN30 Pro worth it?
Yes if you mainly play 2D games or want a small retro pad for Switch, PC or Android. If you play 3D shooters or have large hands, a full-size controller is a better fit.
Does it work with PlayStation and Xbox?
It connects over Bluetooth to Windows, macOS, Android and Switch. It does not work as a native controller on PlayStation or Xbox consoles.
How is the battery life?
The built-in rechargeable battery lasts roughly 15 to 20 hours per charge in typical wireless use. It charges over USB-C.
Does it have Hall Effect sticks?
No. The SN30 Pro uses standard analog sticks, so stick drift is possible over time. 8BitDo's Hall Effect versions are separate models.
What is in the box?
One SN30 Pro controller and a USB-C cable. No dongle or case is included.
When is it cheapest?
8BitDo pads usually drop during Black Friday, Prime Day and holiday sales. Watch the price history for dips below the usual street price.
