Our take on the Achim Nexus Self Adhesive Vinyl Floor Planks

Achim Nexus Self Adhesive Vinyl Floor Planks are peel-and-stick vinyl planks in a 6 x 36 inch format with a medium-gloss oak wood-grain finish. Each box holds 10 planks, covering about 15 square feet, and the 1.2 mm thickness with straight edges suits quick DIY refreshes over flat, sound subfloors. It is water resistant, not waterproof, so it handles kitchens and bathrooms better than standing water. No current price was provided, so compare the per-square-foot cost against its recent range before buying.

Pros
  • No adhesive or underlayment needed; peel and stick
  • Wood-grain oak look at a low per-square-foot cost
  • Water resistant for kitchens and baths
  • Thin 1.2 mm profile fits under most door clearances
  • Straight edges butt cleanly for a plank look
Cons
  • 1.2 mm is thin; it telegraphs bumps and gaps in the subfloor
  • Water resistant only, not waterproof
  • Medium gloss shows smudges and scuffs
  • Peel-and-stick bond can lift at edges in humid rooms
  • About 15 sq ft per box means many boxes for large rooms

Questions and answers

How much floor does one box cover?
Ten planks at 6 x 36 inches cover about 15 square feet. Add 10 percent for cuts and waste.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
It is water resistant, not waterproof. It handles splashes, but standing water and long damp spells can loosen the adhesive.
What subfloor does it need?
A flat, clean, dry surface such as plywood, concrete or existing hard flooring. Fill dips and sand high spots first, since 1.2 mm vinyl shows them.
Is it better than the previous Nexus line?
The format and peel-and-stick method are the same; check the thickness and finish on older stock, since thin planks are the main complaint.
How does it compare with luxury vinyl plank?
LVP is thicker, usually click-lock and often waterproof, and costs more. Nexus is cheaper and faster to install but less durable.
When is it cheapest?
Watch for multi-box bundles and seasonal flooring sales; the per-square-foot price varies most by box count.
