Our take on the Ackland Harper 7 in. x 48 in. 4.4mm 6mil Waterproof Rigid Core Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring, Milton

The Ackland Harper is a rigid-core luxury vinyl plank sold in 7 in. x 48 in. boards with a 4.4mm (6mil) wear layer and a waterproof core. It clicks together with an interlocking edge and is rated for below-grade installation, so basements and slabs are fair game. The square edge gives a tight, flush seam rather than a beveled shadow line. At $52.04 at Wayfair as of November 4, 2026, it is the lowest new price among the two stores listing it.

Pros
  • Waterproof rigid core resists swelling from spills and damp slabs
  • Interlocking click edge needs no glue or nails
  • 6mil wear layer suits normal household traffic
  • Below-grade rating covers basements and sunken rooms
  • Long 48 in. planks mean fewer seams
Cons
  • Square edge shows subfloor imperfections more than a bevel
  • 4.4mm is thin; expect a firmer, less cushioned feel underfoot
  • 6mil wear layer is light-commercial at best, not heavy traffic
  • Only two stores list it, so price comparison is limited

Questions and answers

Is the Ackland Harper plank thick enough for a basement?
At 4.4mm with a rigid waterproof core and a below-grade rating, it is built for basements and slabs. It is thinner than 6mm-plus planks, so floor flatness matters more.
Do I need underlayment under it?
The plank has an attached backing in most rigid-core builds, so a separate pad is usually optional. Over concrete, a moisture barrier is still wise unless the slab is dry and sealed.
What does 6mil wear layer mean for durability?
6mil is about 0.15mm of clear wear film, fine for homes and light offices. It will scuff sooner than 12mil or 20mil planks in high-traffic commercial space.
How does the square edge look installed?
Square edges sit flush and give a clean, modern seam. They hide less subfloor unevenness than beveled edges, so prep the floor well.
When is the price lowest?
Wayfair listed it at $52.04 as of November 4, 2026, the best of the two stores tracked. Watch for seasonal flooring sales rather than expecting a steady drop.
