Is this polisher good for a beginner?

Yes. The 9mm dual-action orbit spreads pressure and stops the pad from sitting in one spot, which makes it much harder to burn through paint than a rotary. Practice on a panel at low speed first.

What is the difference between the bare buffer and the kit?

The bare option is just the polisher. The kit adds pads and polish so you can start correcting right away. Compare the two prices against buying pads separately.

Will it remove deep scratches?

It handles swirls, oxidation and light scratches well. Deep scratches that catch a fingernail usually need wet sanding or a paint shop, not a dual-action polisher.

What size pads does it take?

It uses a standard backing plate that fits common 5- to 6-inch dual-action pads. Smaller pads cut faster on tight panels; larger pads cover more area.

How does it compare with a 15mm long-throw polisher?

A 15mm machine corrects faster and covers more area per pass, but costs more and is less forgiving in tight spots. The 9mm is the safer first machine.

When is the best time to buy it?

Watch for detailing-season sales in spring and holiday promotions, when Adam's Polishes and detailing retailers discount kits. Check the price history before buying.

Our take on the Adam's Polishes 9mm Dual-Action Car Polisher

The Adam's Polishes 9mm Dual-Action Car Polisher is a corded machine polisher with a 9mm throw and a 1,000-watt motor, sold either as the bare buffer or as a kit with pads and polish. The dual-action orbit makes it forgiving for first-time polishers while still cutting enough to remove swirls and light scratches. It sits in the middle of the hobbyist market: more capable than a cheap random orbital, less aggressive than a long-throw or rotary machine.
