Our take on the Adidas Handball Spezial Bob Marley 'Football Is Freedom'

The Adidas Handball Spezial Bob Marley 'Football Is Freedom' is a suede low-top from Adidas's long-running Handball Spezial line, dressed in a Bob Marley tribute colorway. The shoe keeps the 1979 design's T-toe, EVA midsole and gum rubber outsole, so it wears like the original indoor court trainer rather than a modern running shoe. At $70.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, the best new price sits well below what limited Marley colorways typically fetch, and five stores list it new. Sizing and colorway details vary by listing, so confirm the style code before buying.

Pros
  • Suede upper with the classic T-toe shape
  • Gum rubber outsole grips well on dry pavement
  • EVA midsole gives light, flexible cushioning
  • Bob Marley tribute colorway stands out from plain Spezials
  • Best new price of $70.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026 is low for a collab
Cons
  • Thin cushioning and cold padding suit short walks, not all-day standing
  • Suede needs brushing and protection against rain and salt
  • Gum sole wears faster than modern rubber on rough pavement
  • Collab colorways sell out, so sizes and prices move fast

Questions and answers

Is the Bob Marley Handball Spezial worth $70?
At $70.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is a low price for a collab Spezial. Standard colorways often sell for more, so this is a reasonable buy if the colorway suits you and the size is right.
How does it fit compared with a regular Handball Spezial?
It uses the same last as the standard Spezial, so most people take their usual size. The suede upper is snug at first and loosens with wear; wide feet may want a half size up.
Is this the same shoe as the Collegiate Navy version?
No. The Collegiate Navy/Clear Sky/Gum pair is style BD7633, while this Bob Marley release is a separate black Core Black/Pure Ruby/Bold Gold colorway. Check the style code on the listing before you buy.
Can I wear it for handball or gym sessions?
It was designed as an indoor court shoe, but the EVA midsole and cold padding are thin by modern standards. It works for light court play but is better as a casual sneaker.
What comes in the box?
Listings describe it as new with box, and collab releases usually include the standard Adidas box. Confirm with the seller whether the special Marley packaging is included, since that affects resale value.
When is it cheapest?
Collab prices drop when a release sells out and resellers clear stock, and end-of-season sales are the other window. Track the price history here rather than assuming the current $70.00 at eBay is the floor.
Where is the Adidas Handball Spezial Bob Marley 'Football Is Freedom' cheapest?
At eBay, for $70.00, 42% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Adidas Handball Spezial Bob Marley 'Football Is Freedom'?
6 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, Stadium Goods, Tessabit, Amazon, Puffer Reds.
