Is the AKG K72 wireless?

No. It is a wired over-ear headphone with a fixed 3.5 mm cable and a 6.3 mm adapter. The battery and DJ tags in some listings do not apply to this model.

Is $79 a good price for the K72?

It is on the high side. The K72 has often sold for less, so $79 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026 is near the top of its range; waiting for a drop is reasonable.

Can I use the K72 for gaming or calls?

You can plug it into a controller or PC, but there is no mic or inline remote. For voice chat you need a separate microphone.

Does it come with a case?

No case is included. The box has the headphone and a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter.

How does it compare with the K52 or K92?

The K52 is cheaper and lighter on bass; the K92 adds a detachable cable and a slightly brighter sound. The K72 sits between them.

Can I replace the ear pads?

Yes, the leatherette pads can be pulled off and replaced, though AKG spare pads are not always easy to find.

Where is the AKG K72 cheapest?

Our take on the AKG K72

The AKG K72 is a closed-back, over-ear wired headphone aimed at budget studio monitoring and casual listening. It uses 40 mm dynamic drivers, leatherette ear pads and a fixed 3 m (118 in) cable with a 3.5 mm plug plus a 6.3 mm screw-on adapter. It is passive and wired only, so the listed battery and DJ-use tags do not match how it actually works. At $79 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the top of its usual street range, where it has sold for less.
