Our take on the Alien Pro Boomer X Portable Boombox Speaker

The Alien Pro Boomer X is a wide, portable Bluetooth boombox with 20 W of output, Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth, and a 5-hour battery. Its 18.1-inch body is built for outdoor use, so it is more of a carry-out party speaker than a backpack companion. It is a niche brand, so check the price against better-known boomboxes with similar power before buying.

Questions and answers

Is the Boomer X worth it?
Only if you want Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth in a wide outdoor speaker and the price is clearly below comparable 20 W boomboxes. The 5-hour battery and niche brand make it a harder sell at a premium.
How long does the battery last?
Alien Pro rates it at 5 hours. Expect less at high volume, so plan on charging between outings.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes, it is listed for outdoor use and its wide body sits stably on a table. No water or dust rating is published, so keep it out of rain and pool splash.
Does it have Wi-Fi or only Bluetooth?
It has both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which lets you stream over a home network as well as pair a phone directly.
How big and heavy is it?
It is 18.1 inches wide, so it takes up real space and is best carried with two hands. Check the listed weight before buying if you plan to move it often.
When is it cheapest?
Outdoor speakers tend to drop around late-spring and summer sales and again in November. Compare its price history before buying.
