Our take on the Alpha Joy Kids Drift Go-Kart 12V

The Alpha Joy Kids Drift Go-Kart is a 12-volt ride-on built for sliding, low-grip turns rather than straight-line speed. It runs on a 12V battery with rear-wheel drive and slick-style rear tires that let kids break traction and drift on smooth pavement. The best new price is $269.99 at Walmart as of November 3, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no cheaper new option to compare against.

Best forKids roughly 6 to 12 who want to slide and spinSmooth driveways, patios and flat pavementParents who want a low-speed, seat-belted ride-onA first drift-style kart before a gas or bigger electric model
Pros
  • 12V power is enough for drifting on smooth, flat surfaces
  • Go-kart seating and steering wheel feel more grown-up than a ride-on car
  • Drift-style rear tires make sliding the main appeal
  • Simple single-motor design means fewer parts to fail
Cons
  • One new listing at $269.99, so no price competition
  • 12V and low grip limit it to smooth pavement, not grass or hills
  • Battery runtime is short, typically 30 to 60 minutes per charge
  • No suspension or speed settings on most 12V drift karts

Questions and answers

Is the Alpha Joy drift go-kart worth $269.99?
It is a fair price for a 12V drift kart if your kid has smooth pavement to slide on. At $269.99 from a single Walmart listing as of November 3, 2026, you are paying for the drift gimmick, not for range or off-road ability.
How fast does a 12V drift go-kart go?
Most 12V drift karts top out around 6 to 8 mph. That is fast enough to slide on a driveway but slow enough for a supervised kid on flat pavement.
Can it drive on grass or gravel?
No. The low-grip rear tires and 12V motor are made for smooth, flat surfaces like concrete and asphalt. Grass, gravel and hills will bog it down and wear the motor.
How long does the battery last per charge?
Expect roughly 30 to 60 minutes of drifting per charge, less with constant sliding. Recharging usually takes 8 to 12 hours, so plan one session a day.
What age and weight is it for?
These 12V drift karts typically suit kids around 6 to 12 and up to about 110 to 130 lb. Check the listing's weight limit before buying, since it varies by model.
When is the best time to buy?
Ride-on prices usually dip during Black Friday and in late spring. With only one new listing at $269.99 as of November 3, 2026, watch for a holiday markdown rather than expecting a store-to-store price war.
Where is the Alpha Joy Kids Drift Go-Kart 12V cheapest?
At Walmart, for $269.99, as of our latest check.
