Is this coat warm enough for real winter?

It handles mild-to-moderate cold and layering well, but the synthetic fill is thinner than a down parka. In hard freezes or long outdoor stretches, plan on a sweater underneath.

How does the sizing run?

The fit is roomy and boxy, so many buyers go down one size, especially if they don't plan to layer heavily. Check the size chart against a coat you already own.

No. The polyester shell resists wind and light snow but is not waterproof, and steady rain will soak through. It suits dry cold better than wet cold.

Is $39.99 a good price?

That is the best new price among the two stores listing it, at eBay as of November 4, 2026, and it sits at the low end of the coat's recent range. It is a fair buy at that price if the size fits.

Just the coat. The hood is attached, and there is no stuff sack or extra liner included.

Prices on this coat tend to dip outside peak winter, in late winter and early fall clearance. If you don't need it now, waiting for a seasonal markdown is reasonable.

Our take on the Amazon Essentials Men's Hooded Long Puffer Coat, Deep Brown, X-Large

A long, hooded puffer coat from Amazon's in-house Essentials line, built for cold-weather walking and everyday winter wear. The polyester shell and long cut cover the thighs, and the hood adds wind protection without a separate hat. At $39.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what this coat has sold for recently, so it is a cheap way into a full-length puffer.
