Our take on the AnkerMake M5C

The AnkerMake M5C is an open-frame FDM 3D printer with a 220 x 220 x 250 mm build volume and a direct-drive all-metal hotend. It prints fast, up to 500 mm/s, and handles PLA, PETG and TPU with auto bed leveling and Wi-Fi control through the AnkerMake app. It has no screen, camera or SD slot, so setup and monitoring run through the app and a USB drive. It is a stripped-down, speed-focused printer for people who want quick prints without tinkering.

Best forBeginners who want app-guided setupFast PLA and PETG printingSmall to mid-size functional partsOwners who prefer phone control over a screen
Pros
  • Fast print speeds up to 500 mm/s
  • Auto-leveling bed cuts manual calibration
  • Direct-drive extruder handles flexible TPU better than Bowden setups
  • All-metal hotend supports higher temperatures
  • Wi-Fi and app control for remote monitoring and starting prints
  • Compact open frame fits on a desk
Cons
  • No built-in screen, camera or SD card slot
  • Open frame is noisy and less stable for ABS or high-temp materials
  • 220 x 220 x 250 mm build volume limits large prints
  • App and cloud dependency for most control
  • 12.6 kg and roughly 50 cm wide, so it needs real desk space

Questions and answers

Is the AnkerMake M5C worth it for a beginner?
Yes, if you mainly print PLA and PETG and want speed without tuning. Auto-leveling and the app remove most manual setup. If you need a screen or camera, look at the M5 or another model.
How is the M5C different from the AnkerMake M5?
The M5C drops the M5's touchscreen, camera and SD slot and keeps the fast motion system and auto-leveling. It is cheaper and simpler, but you lose on-device control and monitoring.
What filaments can the M5C print?
The all-metal hotend handles PLA, PETG and TPU, and the listing also names wood and carbon-fiber blends. The open frame makes ABS and other high-temp, warp-prone filaments harder to print reliably.
Does the M5C have a screen or camera?
No. There is no display and no built-in camera. You control it through the AnkerMake app over Wi-Fi and load files from a USB drive.
How big is the build volume?
220 x 220 x 250 mm, enough for most small and mid-size parts. Large single-piece prints will need to be split.
When is the M5C cheapest?
Discounts tend to appear around major sales events and when a newer AnkerMake model launches. Check the price history before buying.
Where is the AnkerMake M5C cheapest?
At eBay, for $129.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the AnkerMake M5C?
2 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, 3dprintersdepot.com.
