Our take on the Apple 12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is Apple's largest tablet, built around a 2732 x 2048 Liquid Retina display and an M-series chip with 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM and 128 GB to 2 TB of storage. The Cellular model adds 4G LTE so it works away from Wi-Fi, at 24.2 oz and a rated 10 hours of battery. The 12 MP rear and 12 MP front cameras cover document scanning and video calls. At $644.99 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, the new price sits well below what this model typically sold for at launch, though only 2 stores list it new.

Questions and answers

Is the 12.9-inch iPad Pro worth it at $644.99?
At $644.99 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, it is a strong price for a new Cellular 12.9-inch Pro. It makes sense if you want a large screen and LTE; skip it if you mainly read in bed, where the 24.2 oz weight tells.
Do I need the Cellular model?
Only if you work or travel without reliable Wi-Fi. The Cellular model adds 4G LTE and a data plan cost; the Wi-Fi version is cheaper if you are usually near a network.
How much storage should I get?
128 GB is fine for notes, streaming and cloud photos. Choose 256 GB or more if you shoot video or keep large files offline, since iPad storage cannot be expanded.
Does it work with the Apple Pencil and keyboard?
Yes, it supports Apple Pencil and the Magic Keyboard, but neither is included in the box. Budget for them if you plan to draw or type.
How does it compare to the 11-inch iPad Pro?
The 12.9-inch gives you a much larger canvas for split-screen work and drawing, at the cost of about 24.2 oz of weight. The 11-inch is easier to hold and carry.
What is in the box?
The iPad, a USB-C charging cable and a power adapter. No pencil, keyboard or case is included.
