Is the A16 iPad worth it over the previous generation?

If you are coming from an older base iPad, the A16 chip, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB base storage are a clear step up for everyday use. If you already own a recent iPad, the gains are modest and not worth the upgrade.

Does this iPad support Apple Intelligence?

No. Apple Intelligence requires newer chips, and the A16 in this model does not support it. Buy an iPad with an M-series or A17 Pro chip if AI features matter to you.

How much storage do I need?

128 GB suits apps, photos, notes and some offline video. If you plan to store large game libraries or many downloaded movies, consider a higher-capacity model or cloud storage.

Is it Wi-Fi only, or does it have cellular?

This configuration is Wi-Fi only. The 5G mention in some listings refers to other iPad models; check the model number MD3Y4LL/A for Wi-Fi.

You get the iPad, a USB-C charge cable and a 20W power adapter. The Apple Pencil and keyboard accessories are sold separately.

When is the best time to buy?

The price has ranged from $389.00 to $399.99 since late October 2026, and $389 at PC Richard & Son as of November 6, 2026 is at the low end. Black Friday and back-to-school periods are when base iPads typically see their deepest discounts.
