Our take on the Apple iPad mini 64GB Wi-Fi, Space Gray

The iPad mini 64GB Wi-Fi is Apple's 2019 fifth-generation compact tablet, with a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 display, A12 Bionic chip, 8MP rear and 7MP front cameras, and about 10 hours of battery life in a 10.6 oz body. It is the last mini with a home button and Lightning port, which keeps it small and light but behind the newer edge-to-edge minis. At $179.85 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the bottom of its recent range of $179.85 to $194.40, so the current price is the cheapest it has been in this window.

Questions and answers

Is the iPad mini 64GB worth buying in 2026?
At $179.85 it is a cheap way into iPadOS for reading, streaming and light apps. If you need USB-C, Face ID or more storage, a newer mini costs more but lasts longer.
How does it compare with the newer iPad mini?
The 2019 model has a 7.9-inch screen, A12 chip, Touch ID and Lightning. The 2021 and later minis have an 8.3-inch edge-to-edge screen, USB-C and faster chips, at a higher price.
Is 64GB enough storage?
It is fine for streaming, browsing and a few apps. Games, downloaded video and photo libraries will fill it quickly, and there is no microSD slot.
Does it work with the Apple Pencil?
Yes, it supports the first-generation Apple Pencil, which charges by plugging into the Lightning port. The second-generation Pencil does not work with it.
How long does the battery last?
Apple rates it at about 10 hours of web browsing or video. On a used unit, expect less if the battery has aged.
When is the best time to buy it?
Prices on this older model move little, but the current $179.85 at eBay is the lowest seen since early November 2026. Watch for used and refurbished listings dropping below that.
