Is the iPhone 13 Pro Max still worth buying?

Yes if you want a big screen, long battery and a 3x zoom for well under new Pro Max prices. Skip it if you need USB-C or the longest remaining iOS support.

How does it compare with the iPhone 13 Pro?

Same chip and cameras, but the Pro Max has a larger 6.7-inch screen and a bigger battery. The Pro is easier to hold.

How is the battery life?

Apple rates it for up to 28 hours of video playback and 95 hours of audio, the best in the iPhone 13 line. Expect a full day of heavy use.

Is it unlocked and does it support dual SIM?

Unlocked models work on GSM and CDMA carriers. It takes one nano-SIM plus an eSIM for dual SIM.

Apple ships the phone with a USB-C to Lightning cable and no charger or earbuds. Plan on a 20W adapter for fast charging.

Prices drop around new iPhone launches and during Black Friday and back-to-school sales. Refurbished and carrier-locked units cost less than unlocked ones.

Our take on the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max 128GB

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is Apple's 2021 flagship: a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, an A15 Bionic chip, and a three-lens rear camera with 3x telephoto. It was the first iPhone with a 1TB storage option and the longest-lasting battery in its lineup, rated for up to 28 hours of video playback. It is still a fast, capable phone in 2025, though it uses Lightning rather than USB-C and Apple has ended iOS feature updates for it. Its 128GB base model is the cheapest way into the Pro Max line and is widely sold refurbished or unlocked.
