Our take on the Apple MacBook Air 15-inch M4 32GB 2TB Silver with AppleCare+

The MacBook Air 15-inch M4 is Apple's large-screen thin-and-light laptop, here configured with 32GB of memory and a 2TB SSD in Silver, bundled with AppleCare+. It pairs a 15.3-inch 2880-by-1864 Liquid Retina display at 500 nits with an 18-hour video-streaming battery, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, MagSafe 3 charging and Wi-Fi 6E, all in a 3.3 lb chassis. The 32GB/2TB build is far above the base configuration, so it is priced for heavy multitaskers and large local libraries rather than casual buyers. The listed 60Hz refresh rate is the panel's main hardware compromise against Pro models.

Best forMultitaskers running many apps and browser tabs at onceVideo editors and photographers with large local librariesStudents and office workers who want a big screen without a Pro's weightBuyers who want extended AppleCare+ coverage bundled in

  • 18-hour video-streaming battery and 66.5Wh capacity
  • Large 15-inch 2880-by-1864 display at 500 nits
  • Silent fanless design at 3.3 lb

Questions and answers

Is the 32GB/2TB configuration worth it?
Only if you routinely run many apps at once or keep large photo and video libraries on the machine. For web, office and streaming use, a lower memory and storage tier costs much less and performs the same.
How does the M4 Air compare with the M3 or M2 15-inch?
The M4 brings a faster chip and newer connectivity while keeping the same 15-inch chassis, 500-nit display and 18-hour battery rating. If you already own an M2 or M3 15-inch, the jump is modest for everyday tasks.
How long does the battery actually last?
Apple rates up to 18 hours of video streaming from the 66.5Wh battery. Mixed work with many browser tabs typically lands well short of that but still covers a full workday.
Can I connect two external monitors?
With the lid closed, the Air supports up to two external displays over its Thunderbolt 4 ports. With the lid open, plan on one external display unless you use a DisplayLink adapter.
What comes in the box?
The laptop, a MagSafe 3 charging cable and a USB-C power adapter. The AppleCare+ coverage in this bundle is registered to the device.
When is the best time to buy?
Air prices tend to dip during back-to-school season and around major holiday sales, and again when a new model is announced. Track the price history before buying at full list.
