Is the 16GB/512GB MacBook Air M2 worth it over the base model?

Yes, for most buyers. The 512GB SSD is faster than the 256GB drive, and 16GB of memory keeps more apps and browser tabs open without slowdown. If you only browse and write, the base model is enough.

How does it compare with the M3 MacBook Air?

The M3 Air is faster, supports two external displays with the lid closed and has Wi-Fi 6E. The M2 Air is still plenty for everyday work and is often the better value when discounted.

How long does the battery actually last?

Apple rates up to 18 hours. In mixed use most owners see 12 to 15 hours of browsing and video, and less under heavy editing loads.

Can I connect external monitors?

It supports one external display up to 6K at 60Hz with the lid open. Running two displays requires the lid closed and a dock.

What comes in the box?

The laptop, a USB-C to MagSafe 3 charging cable and a 35W dual USB-C power adapter. No mouse or sleeve is included.

Prices drop around back-to-school season, Black Friday and when a new Air launches. Watch for discounts on the 16GB/512GB configuration rather than the base model.

Our take on the Apple MacBook Air M2 13-inch 16GB RAM 512GB SSD

The MacBook Air M2 is Apple's fanless 13.6-inch laptop, built around the M2 chip with a 2560 x 1664 Liquid Retina display, MagSafe charging and a 1080p webcam. This configuration pairs 16GB of unified memory with a 512GB SSD, which avoids the slower storage of the base 256GB model and handles heavier multitasking. Apple rates battery life at up to 18 hours, and the machine weighs 2.7 lb. It is the sweet-spot Air for most buyers, though the M3 Air now sits above it.
