Is the Willowton dresser solid wood?

No. It is engineered wood (MDF and particleboard) with a decorative laminate finish. That keeps the price down but means it is not a solid-wood heirloom piece.

How much assembly does it need?

It ships flat and requires full assembly, including drawers, feet and hardware. Budget an hour or two and a second person, since the finished unit weighs 178 lbs.

Does it fit a standard bedroom?

At 61 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 41 inches tall, it needs a wall about five feet wide. Measure doorways and stairwells before delivery, because the boxed parts are large and heavy.

Is it safe for a child's room?

It is certified to ASTM F 2057, a furniture safety standard. Still anchor it to the wall, as you should with any tall dresser in a youth room.

The dresser parts, five drawers, ring-pull hardware, bun feet and assembly instructions. No tools beyond what the instructions list are included.

Our take on the Ashley Furniture Willowton Dresser

The Willowton is a five-drawer, farmhouse-style dresser from Ashley Furniture, 61 inches wide and 41 inches tall, with a whitewashed finish, antiqued brass-tone ring pulls and bun feet. It is built from engineered wood with a decorative laminate, so it looks like painted wood without the solid-wood price. Drawers glide smoothly and the top drawer has 13 inches of interior depth. It ships flat and requires assembly.
