Is the GEL-Cumulus 27 good for beginners?

Yes. It is a neutral daily trainer with forgiving cushioning and no stability posting, which suits most new runners building base mileage.

How does it compare with the GEL-Nimbus?

The Nimbus is ASICS's plusher, heavier max-cushion shoe. The Cumulus is lighter and firmer and costs less, which makes it the better pick for everyday training.

Does it work for overpronators?

No. It has no medial posting; overpronators should look at the GEL-Kayano or GT-2000 instead.

Is $110 a good price?

Yes. That is $30 under the $140 list price, and the best new price across the three stores listing it as of November 7, 2026.

What is the drop and stack height?

ASICS lists an 8 mm heel-to-toe drop with roughly 38 mm of stack in the heel, in line with the previous Cumulus generation.

Most runners take their usual size. If you have wide feet, try a half size up or look for the 2E width version.

Our take on the ASICS GEL-Cumulus 27

The GEL-Cumulus 27 is ASICS's daily neutral trainer, sitting one step below the Nimbus in cushioning and priced as a workhorse rather than a flagship. It uses FF Blast+ foam with a rearfoot GEL unit for soft landings and a stable, predictable ride for everyday mileage. At $110 at ShopSimon as of November 7, 2026, it is well under the $140 launch price and a solid buy for a high-mileage neutral shoe.
