Questions and answers

Is the Gel-Contend 9 worth it?
Yes for casual runners, walkers and gym-goers on a budget. At $34.97 at shoeshowmega.com as of October 28, 2026, it costs far less than Asics' premium trainers, though it gives up some cushioning and durability.
How does it compare with the Gel-Contend 8?
The 9 keeps the same basic formula: mesh upper, GEL heel, AmpliFoam midsole and Ortholite sockliner. Changes are incremental, so buy the 9 if the price is close and the 8 if it is clearly cheaper.
Does it come in wide widths?
Yes. It is sold in medium and wide widths, which helps runners who find standard Asics too narrow.
What is the shoe best used for?
Easy runs, walks, treadmill sessions and gym workouts. It is not the best pick for marathon training or fast tempo runs.
What is in the box?
One pair of shoes with the factory laces. No extra insoles or accessories are included.
When is it cheapest?
The lowest price recorded so far is $34.97 at shoeshowmega.com on October 28, 2026. Budget running shoes usually drop further during seasonal sales and when a successor launches.
