Is the ASUS Vivobook 15 Touch good for students?

Yes for basic schoolwork: documents, browsing, video calls and note-taking on the touchscreen. It is not suited to heavy gaming or video editing because of the 8GB RAM and integrated graphics.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage?

RAM is soldered on most Vivobook 15 models, so 8GB is the limit. The 256GB SSD can be swapped for a larger drive, but that voids the warranty if you open the case yourself.

How long does the battery last?

ASUS rates it at about 5 hours, and owners report similar real-world use. Expect less with the screen at full brightness or with video streaming.

Does it have a backlit keyboard and a webcam shutter?

This configuration lists no backlit keyboard. The 720p webcam has no physical privacy shutter, so cover it or use the camera settings in Windows.

Is $449 at Walmart a good price?

It is a low price for a 15.6-inch touchscreen Core i5 laptop, and only two stores list it new as of November 7, 2026. Compare against current 12th-gen or Ryzen budget laptops before buying, since the older chip is the main trade-off.
