Is the ATN Thor LTV worth it for a first thermal scope?

It is a reasonable entry point if you hunt at close range and want light weight and video. If you need to identify animals past 200-300 yards, save for a 256x192 or 320x240 sensor.

How far can the Thor LTV detect a human?

ATN rates human detection at about 475 m, but that is detection, not identification. Expect to recognize a target clearly at well under half that distance.

The scope ships with a mount, eyepiece, battery and charging cable. You need to supply a micro SD card (4 to 64 GB) for video and photos.

How long does the battery last?

ATN rates battery life at 9+ hours, which covers a full night of hunting. Recording video and using Wi-Fi will shorten that.

Does it work on a rimfire rifle?

Yes. At 1.4 lb it suits .22 LR and other light-recoil rifles, and the 3-9x range fits close-range varmint work.

Our take on the ATN Thor LTV 3-9x Thermal Rfl - Scope 160x120 W/video

The ATN Thor LTV is a lightweight thermal rifle scope built around a 160x120, 12 µm sensor and a 12 mm objective lens. It offers 3-9x digital magnification, records 720p video to a micro SD card, and runs 9+ hours on a charge. At 1.4 lb and 11.5 inches long, it is one of the lighter thermal scopes in its class. Its 160x120 core is entry-level resolution, so image detail is coarse compared with 256x192 or 320x240 units.
