Our take on the Avalon Ashen 36 Inch Farm Sink Base Cabinet

The Avalon Ashen is a 36-inch farm sink base cabinet in a Shaker door style, sized 34.5 inches high, 36 wide and 24 deep. It is built to hold a farmhouse apron-front sink, so the front is open for the sink to sit forward of the cabinet face. The finish is a light ash-toned wood look that suits white, gray and natural palettes. Its best new price is $353.16 at BuildMyPlace as of November 4, 2026, and only one store currently lists it new.

Pros
  • Standard 36-inch width fits most farm sink openings
  • Shaker door style is a safe match for many kitchen designs
  • 34.5-inch height lines up with standard base cabinet runs
  • Ash finish gives a lighter, less yellow wood look than oak
  • One clear price to compare against custom sink bases
Cons
  • Only one store lists it new, so price competition is thin
  • Farm sink bases need a compatible apron sink and cutout planning
  • Shaker doors show dust and grease in the recessed panels
  • No drawer stack, so storage is limited to the sink area
  • Finish and door alignment depend on the single seller's stock

Questions and answers

Is the Avalon Ashen farm sink base worth it?
At $353.16 at BuildMyPlace as of November 4, 2026, it is a reasonable price for a 36-inch Shaker sink base. Compare it with custom or semi-custom bases, which often cost more but let you match an exact finish.
What sink fits this cabinet?
It is made for a farmhouse or apron-front sink about 36 inches wide. Check the sink's exterior width and apron height against the cabinet opening before ordering.
Does it come assembled?
Base cabinets in this class are usually shipped assembled or ready to set, but confirm with BuildMyPlace. Ask whether the farm sink cutout is pre-cut or must be done on site.
How does it compare with a standard 36-inch sink base?
A standard base has a full front panel and a drop-in or undermount sink. This one has an open front for an apron sink, so the sink shows and the cabinet loses the front panel.
When is the best time to buy?
Cabinet prices move with promotions, and with only one new listing the price is unlikely to drop from competition. Watch for store-wide sales at BuildMyPlace around holidays.
Where is the Avalon Ashen 36 Inch Farm Sink Base Cabinet cheapest?
At BuildMyPlace, for $353.16, as of our latest check.
