Is the Medium Flex carry-on size?

No. At 29 x 20.5 x 12.5 inches it is a checked bag, and the 104 L capacity is well above carry-on limits.

How much does it weigh empty?

12.6 lbs. That is heavy for a checked suitcase, so check your airline's weight limit before packing.

Does the expansion make it too big for airlines?

Expanding adds about 1.75 inches of depth. Some airlines cap checked bags at 62 linear inches, and expanded this bag is close to that, so measure before you fly.

Is the lock TSA-approved?

Yes. It has a built-in TSA-approved combination lock, so security can open and relock it without cutting the zipper.

Is $395 a good price?

It is the only new price listed, $395 at Amazon as of November 6, 2026, so there is no competing store to compare against. Away's own site and other retailers are worth checking before you buy.

The suitcase comes with its interior mesh pockets, hanging pocket and compression straps. A water-resistant polyester laundry bag is included for separating worn clothes.
