How cold can the Baffin Control Max handle?

Baffin rates it for -30°C to -45°C (-22°F to -49°F). That covers extreme winter cold, but it is more boot than most people need in mild climates.

Are they actually waterproof?

Yes. They use Baffin's B-TEK DRY waterproof base and are listed as breathable, so slush and wet snow should not soak through.

The pair weighs 7.12 lbs, roughly 3.5 lbs per boot. That is heavy for a winter boot and noticeable on long walks.

What size should I order?

The external forefoot is 5 inches wide and the boot is 12.5 inches long, so they run bulky. Baffin's cold-weather boots typically fit true to size with room for a thick sock; size up only if you wear very thick socks.

Is $279.95 a good price?

It is the only new price listed, $279.95 at Amazon as of November 8, 2026. With one seller there is no lower new price to compare, so watch for seasonal markdowns before deep winter.
