Is the Snow Monster worth it?

If you face subzero winters, deep snow or outdoor work, yes. Its -40°F rating and waterproof build justify the bulk. For mild winters or daily commuting, a lighter boot is a better buy.

How warm is it really?

Baffin rates it to -40°F, and the thick waffle insole plus insulated upper back that up. Pair it with wool socks for the coldest days.

Does it run true to size?

Baffin winter boots often run large, and this one is roomy to fit thick socks. Many buyers size down half a size, so try it on with the socks you plan to wear.

Yes. The leather and nylon upper is waterproof, and the rubber sole and shell keep snow and slush out. Water can still enter over the top in deep drifts.

A size 13 pair weighs about 6.9 lb. That is heavy for walking but normal for a boot rated to -40°F.

Winter boots usually drop in price at the end of the season and during pre-season sales. Track its price history and buy when the current price sits near the low end of its recent range.

Our take on the Baffin Men's Snow Monster Boot

The Baffin Snow Monster is a heavy-duty winter boot built for deep cold and deep snow, with a waterproof leather and nylon upper, a lace-up closure and a thick Arctic Flex rubber sole. It is rated to -40°F, so it suits extreme winter use rather than everyday town wear. The size 13 pair weighs about 6.9 lb, which is the main trade-off: warmth and protection for bulk.
