The X2D is the second-generation flagship of Bambu Lab's X Series and the long-awaited replacement for the X1C. Its dual-nozzle extrusion system uses a mechanical gear-and-trigger switching mechanism with no extra motor on the toolhead — keeping the head lighter for sharper positioning accuracy and finer surface quality at high speeds. Bambu Lab life-cycle tested the mechanism through over one million switches without degradation.
Two Extrusion Philosophies in One Machine
Main nozzle — direct drive: the motor sits right at the toolhead for precise, short-path filament feeding.
Auxiliary nozzle — Bowden: a more powerful rear-mounted motor pushes filament over longer distances.
