Our take on the Barlus 304 Stainless Steel IP68 5MP POE Underwater Camera, 32ft Cable

The Barlus is a 304 stainless steel underwater IP camera with a 5MP CMOS sensor, a fixed 3.6mm lens and an 80-degree view. It runs on PoE or 12V DC and streams over Ethernet, with a 32ft cable included for pond and tank installs. Night vision reaches about 32 feet. At $95.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price tracked across 2 stores, so there is no meaningful recent range to compare against.

Pros
  • 304 stainless housing resists rust in fresh water
  • IP68 rated for continuous submersion
  • 5MP sensor gives sharper detail than 1080p pond cams
  • PoE means one cable for power and data
  • 32ft cable covers most pond-to-house runs
  • Works with OBS and common IP camera software
Cons
  • Fixed 3.6mm lens, no optical zoom or focus
  • 20 fps is below the 25-30 fps most security cams offer
  • 80-degree view is narrow for wide pond coverage
  • Needs a PoE injector, switch or NVR, not included
  • Wi-Fi claims aside, a wired Ethernet run is the reliable setup

Questions and answers

Is $95 a good price for this camera?
It is the only new price tracked across 2 stores as of November 4, 2026, so there is no recent range to judge against. Comparable 5MP stainless underwater PoE cameras usually sell for $100 to $200, so $95 sits at the low end.
Can I use it in salt water?
304 stainless resists fresh water well but pits in salt water. For a dock or hull in the ocean, look for a 316 stainless or titanium housing instead.
Does it need a separate power supply?
No, if your switch or NVR supplies PoE. Otherwise use a 12V DC adapter; the camera draws about 10W.
How deep can it go?
The IP68 rating covers continuous submersion, but the 32ft cable limits how far you can place it from power and network. Keep the connector end dry and above water.
Will it work with Blue Iris or an NVR?
It is a standard ONVIF-style IP camera, so it generally works with Blue Iris, Synology Surveillance Station and most PoE NVRs. Check the stream settings if your recorder does not find it automatically.
What is in the box?
The camera with its 32ft cable is the core item. A PoE injector, 12V adapter and mounting hardware are often sold separately, so confirm with the seller before buying.
Where is the Barlus 304 Stainless Steel IP68 5MP POE Underwater Camera, 32ft Cable cheapest?
