Is the EC600 worth $155.08?

That is high for a can opener. It makes sense if under-cabinet mounting matters to you and you want a known model. Otherwise a countertop opener costs far less.

How does it compare with a countertop can opener?

It saves counter space and opens cans automatically, but it needs cabinet mounting and costs much more. Countertop models are cheaper and portable but take up room.

Does it need special wiring?

No. It plugs into a standard 120 V US outlet. You need an outlet reachable from under the cabinet where you mount it.

Can the cutting parts go in the dishwasher?

Yes, the cutting assembly is listed as dishwasher safe. Wipe the motor housing by hand and never immerse it.
