Our take on the Blendtec 40-710-08 90 oz WildSide Jar with Black Gripper Lid, 2 Pack

This is a two-pack of Blendtec's 90 oz WildSide jar, the five-sided container that fits full-size Blendtec blender bases. The angled walls keep ingredients moving without a tamper, which is why it handles thick smoothies, nut butters and hot soups well. Each jar comes with a black Gripper lid and a 1-year limited warranty. It is a replacement or spare part, not a blender, so it only makes sense if you already own a Blendtec base.

Pros
  • 90 oz capacity handles family-size batches
  • Five-sided WildSide shape blends thick mixes without a tamper
  • Two jars means one can be in the wash while the other is in use
  • Gripper lid stays seated during long blends
  • Fits standard full-size Blendtec bases
Cons
  • Jar only, no motor base included
  • Tall 90 oz jar may not fit under every kitchen cabinet
  • 1-year warranty is shorter than the blender base's coverage
  • Two jars is more than many households need
  • Not compatible with Blendtec's smaller Go or Twister jars' bases

Questions and answers

Will this jar fit my Blendtec blender?
It fits full-size Blendtec bases that take the WildSide jar, including the Classic and Designer series. It does not fit the smaller Blendtec Go bottle base or the Twister jar base.
Is the blender base included?
No. This is a two-pack of jars with black Gripper lids only. You need an existing Blendtec motor base to use them.
How is the WildSide jar different from the FourSide jar?
The WildSide jar has five angled sides that create a stronger vortex, so thick blends need less tampering. The FourSide jar is squarer and better for smaller, drier batches.
Can I blend hot soup in it?
Yes. Blendtec rates the jar for hot liquids when you follow the soup cycle and vent the lid. Start on low and keep your hand on the lid.
How do I clean the jars?
Add warm water and a drop of dish soap, run a short cycle, then rinse. Both the jar and the Gripper lid are top-rack dishwasher safe.
When is the best time to buy?
Jar prices move less than blender prices. Watch for bundle discounts around Black Friday and back-to-school sales, and compare the two-pack price per jar against single jars.
