Is this nailer worth it for a homeowner framing a shed?

For one or two small projects, renting a framing nailer is usually cheaper. Buy it if you already own a compressor and expect repeated framing work.

What nails does it take?

It uses 15-gauge clipped-head framing nails from 2 in to 3-1/2 in, plus metal connector nails. Stick to that gauge and length range.

No. It fires in sequential mode only, one trigger pull per nail. That is safer but slower than a bump-fire framing gun.

What compressor do I need?

It runs at 70-120 PSI and uses about 0.075 cfm per shot. A small portable compressor works, but a larger tank keeps up better during long framing runs.

What comes in the kit?

The kit includes the nailer itself. Check the listing for a case, oil and safety glasses, since kit contents vary by seller.

Framing nailers tend to drop around spring building season and fall tool promotions. Compare the price history here before buying.

Our take on the Bostitch Pneumatic 15 Ga. Framing Nailer Kit

The Bostitch Pneumatic 15 Ga. Framing Nailer Kit is an air-powered framing gun that drives 2 in to 3-1/2 in clipped-head framing and metal connector nails with 1,050 in-lbs of driving power. It runs on 70-120 PSI, holds 60 nails in a rear-load magazine, and weighs 8.1 lbs in a magnesium housing. A push-button depth guide and adjustable exhaust help on engineered lumber. It is a single-mode sequential tool, so it is built for controlled framing rather than rapid bump firing.
