Is the Bambino worth it over a cheaper pressurized machine?

Yes, if you plan to use a burr grinder and fresh beans. The 54 mm portafilter and single wall baskets let you dial in a real espresso shot, which pod-style and pressurized machines cannot do.

Do I need a separate grinder?

Yes. The Bambino has no built-in grinder, so budget for a burr grinder. Pre-ground coffee works in the dual wall baskets but limits how much you can improve the shot.

How fast does it heat up?

Breville rates the ThermoJet system at about 3 seconds to be ready to brew. In practice you still need to grind, dose and tamp, so plan on a minute or two from switch-on to first shot.

Can it steam milk and brew at the same time?

No. It is a single boiler, so you pull the shot first, then switch to steam. Expect a short wait between the two.

What comes in the box?

The machine, a 54 mm portafilter, single and dual wall filter baskets, and a tamper. Milk pitchers and grinders are sold separately.

Espresso machines like this tend to dip during holiday sales and end-of-season clearances. The current $165.00 at cima-chile.com as of November 5, 2026 is already near the low end of its recent range.
