Do I need the Smoking Gun Pro to use this cloche?

Yes. The cloche is designed to sit over food while the Smoking Gun Pro CSM700 feeds smoke through the silicone valve. Without the smoker it is just a glass dome.

What size food fits under it?

The dome is 7 inches across with 4 inches of internal height. That covers a dinner plate, a plate of cheese or a cocktail glass, but not a whole chicken or a large serving platter.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes, both the glass dome and the silicone valve are dishwasher safe. Hand washing also works and avoids knocking the glass against other items.

Is borosilicate glass better than regular glass here?

Borosilicate handles temperature changes better than ordinary glass, which matters when smoke and cold food meet. It is still glass, so avoid dropping it or setting it on a hot burner.

Is it worth buying if I already own the smoker?

If you smoke food often, yes: the clear dome lets you watch the smoke settle and the valve holds it in better than a bowl. If you smoke rarely, a covered bowl does much of the same job for less.

Does it come with the smoking gun or the wood chips?

No. The cloche is sold on its own. The Smoking Gun Pro and the wood chips are separate purchases.

Our take on the Breville Commercial CSM018 Glass Cloche for Smoking Gun Pro CSM700

The Breville CSM018 is a clear borosilicate glass cloche that fits over food while you smoke it with the Smoking Gun Pro CSM700. It is 7 inches across and 4 inches tall inside, so it covers a plate, a small tray or a cocktail glass, and a silicone valve lets the smoke in and holds it there. It weighs about half a pound and is dishwasher safe. It is an accessory rather than a standalone tool, so it only makes sense if you already own the Smoking Gun Pro.
