Our take on the Butler Nador Painted Brass Inlay Storage Trunk

The Butler Nador is a rectangular storage trunk in painted wood with brass inlay and metal trim, built as a furniture piece rather than a travel case. It doubles as a coffee table or blanket chest and holds a fair amount for its footprint. At $525.93 at Best Buy as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range across the five stores that carry it new.

Best forLiving rooms that need a coffee table with hidden storageStoring blankets, linens and seasonal itemsBuyers who want a painted wood piece with brass detailingBedroom or entryway use where a plain chest looks too rustic
Pros
  • Painted wood with brass inlay gives it a finished, furniture-grade look
  • Rectangular top works as a table surface as well as a lid
  • Metal hardware and trim add durability at the corners and latch
  • Generous interior for blankets, linens or media
  • Rated 4.7 out of 5 across 427 ratings
Cons
  • Solid wood construction makes it heavy to move once loaded
  • Painted finish can chip or scuff at edges with rough handling
  • Brass inlay and metal trim need care to avoid tarnish or scratches
  • Not a travel trunk: no wheels, and the lid is not meant to be sat on

Questions and answers

Is $525.93 a good price for the Butler Nador trunk?
It is the lowest new price among the five stores listing it as of November 5, 2026, so it is a fair buy at that figure. Watch for seasonal furniture sales if you are not in a hurry.
Can I use it as a coffee table?
Yes. The flat rectangular lid is sturdy enough for trays, books and drinks. Use coasters, since the painted top can mark from moisture.
How much does it hold?
It is sized for blankets, pillows and linens, roughly a full bedding set with room to spare. It is not deep enough for large luggage.
Is it solid wood or veneer?
Butler builds it from wood with metal trim and brass inlay. Expect a painted wood body rather than a carved solid block.
Does it have a lock?
It closes with a latch, not a keyed lock. It keeps the lid shut for storage but is not a security trunk.
How should I care for the brass inlay?
Wipe the brass with a dry soft cloth and avoid abrasive polishes that can dull the surrounding paint. Keep it out of damp rooms.
Where is the Butler Nador Painted Brass Inlay Storage Trunk cheapest?
At Best Buy, for $525.93, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Butler Nador Painted Brass Inlay Storage Trunk?
Rated 4.7 out of 5 from 427 ratings.
Where can I buy the Butler Nador Painted Brass Inlay Storage Trunk?
13 stores we checked sell it, including Best Buy, eBay, Home Gallery Stores, English Elm, Home Depot.
