Our take on the Cambridge Frameless Un-Assembled Wall Cabinet, 18in W x 30in H x 12in D

This is a frameless (full-overlay) wall cabinet in cherry with raised-panel doors, sized 18 in wide, 30 in high and 12 in deep. It ships unassembled, so you build and hang it yourself. Frameless construction gives more usable interior width than a face-frame box, and the 12 in depth keeps it shallower than base cabinets. No current price was provided for this listing, so compare it against other cherry wall cabinets of the same size before buying.

Pros
  • Frameless box maximizes interior width for an 18 in cabinet
  • Raised-panel cherry doors suit traditional kitchens
  • 12 in depth fits narrow walls and above-counter spots
  • Unassembled shipping keeps the box smaller and lighter
  • Standard 30 in height lines up with common upper-cabinet runs
Cons
  • You must assemble it; no pre-built option here
  • Unassembled flat-pack can arrive with damaged or missing parts
  • Cherry darkens with light exposure, so later additions may not match
  • No frame means door edges and hinges are more visible
  • No price given, so value versus assembled cabinets is unclear

Questions and answers

Is an unassembled cabinet worth it over a pre-built one?
It saves on shipping and usually costs less, but you spend an hour or more assembling and squaring the box. Check that you have clamps, a drill and a helper before ordering.
How does frameless differ from a face-frame cabinet?
Frameless cabinets have no front frame, so doors cover the full box edge and you get slightly more interior width. Face-frame cabinets hide hinges better and are more forgiving if walls are out of square.
Will the cherry finish match cabinets I bought earlier?
Cherry darkens with age and light, so a new cabinet will likely look lighter than older ones at first. Order all matching units together when you can.
What size opening does an 18 x 30 in wall cabinet need?
Plan for the 18 in width and 30 in height plus clearance for doors and hinges, and mount it so the bottom lines up with neighboring uppers. The 12 in depth leaves room above counters.
What comes in the box?
Expect the cabinet panels, doors, hinges and assembly hardware; shelves and mounting screws vary by seller. Confirm the box contents and shelf count before ordering.
When is the best time to buy?
Cabinet pricing often drops during kitchen-remodel sales and holiday promotions. Compare the price across stores and check its price history before buying.
