Is the CAT Twin Pack RC set worth $29.99?

At $29.99 at Distritech as of October 31 you get two working RC vehicles, which is roughly the price of one comparable licensed truck. It is good value if you want two vehicles; skip it if you need hobby-grade durability.

What batteries does it need?

The vehicles take AA batteries and the controllers take AAA. None are included, so budget for four to six cells depending on how many controllers you use.

Does the excavator really dig?

The arm and bucket raise and lower by remote, so it scoops and dumps loose material like sand or small gravel. It does not have the force to dig packed soil.

Can two people drive both vehicles at once?

Yes. The 2.4 GHz radio pairs each controller to its own vehicle, so both can run in the same area without cross-talk.

How big are the vehicles?

They are 1:35 scale, about 25.5 cm long, 9 cm wide and 10.5 cm tall. That fits well on a floor or a sandbox but is small for rough outdoor terrain.

The only recorded price is $29.99 at Distritech as of October 31, with no lower point in the tracked history. Watch for holiday discounts, since licensed toy sets often drop in November and December.
