Our take on the Cayboni Charcoal TV Stand with Fireplace

The Cayboni is a 71-inch freestanding TV stand in charcoal laminate over engineered wood, with a built-in electric fireplace and two closed cabinets. Each cabinet has an adjustable shelf, so the storage fits consoles, receivers or games. The fireplace insert is UL listed and has an overheating control, which matters for a unit that runs unattended. It is rated 4.8 out of 5 from 198 ratings, and assembly is required.

Pros
  • Fireplace adds heat and flame ambiance without a chimney or gas hookup
  • Two doors hide cable boxes, consoles and clutter
  • Adjustable shelf in each cabinet fits tall components

  • Charcoal laminate resists everyday scuffs
Cons
  • 68.49 kg (about 151 lb) shipped flat, and assembly is required
  • Engineered wood and laminate, not solid wood
  • Depth of 20 inches limits deep AV receivers
  • Fireplace heat is a supplement, not whole-room heating
  • Only two shelves, so storage is coarse

Questions and answers

Is the Cayboni TV stand worth it?
If you want a wide TV stand and a fireplace in one piece, it is a reasonable buy at 4.8 out of 5 from 198 ratings. If you only need shelving, a plain stand costs less and takes less assembly.
What size TV fits on it?
The top is 71 inches wide, so most TVs up to about 70 to 75 inches fit with room to spare. Check your TV's stand footprint against the 20-inch depth before buying.
Does the fireplace actually heat the room?
It is an electric insert, so it gives supplemental heat and flame ambiance rather than replacing a furnace. The insert is UL listed and has an overheating control.
How hard is assembly?
Assembly is required and the unit weighs 68.49 kg, so plan for two people and a couple of hours. Flat-pack engineered wood goes together with cam locks and screws.
What is in the box?
You get the flat-pack panels, the electric fireplace insert, hardware and instructions. The TV and any media components are not included.
When is it cheapest?
TV stands like this usually drop during fall and winter furniture sales and around Black Friday. Check the price history before buying.
What do buyers say about the Cayboni Charcoal TV Stand with Fireplace?
