Our take on the Chef Master Butane Fuel Canister

The Chef Master Butane Fuel Canister is an 8 oz factory-sealed butane canister for portable butane stoves, including Chef Master models. It uses a self-sealing valve that closes when you remove the canister from the stove, so you can pull a partly used canister and store it. The canister is non-refillable and UL listed. No current price was provided, so check the latest store prices before buying.

Questions and answers

Is this canister worth it?
It is a reasonable pick if you own a Chef Master or similar portable butane stove and want a sealed canister you can remove and reuse. Compare the per-ounce price against other butane brands before buying in bulk.
Does it fit stoves other than Chef Master?
It uses the standard bayonet-style butane fitting found on most portable tabletop stoves. Check your stove's manual for the canister type it accepts.
Can I refill the canister?
No. It is non-refillable and factory sealed. Refilling a disposable canister is unsafe.
How long does one canister last?
The listed burn time is 2 to 4 hours, depending on flame setting and stove. High heat and cold weather shorten it.
Can I store a partly used canister?
Yes. The valve reseals when you remove the canister from the stove. Store it away from heat and direct sunlight.
When is it cheapest?
Butane canisters usually cost least in multi-packs and outside peak camping season. Check the price history for this listing before buying.
