Does this bed need a box spring?

No. The platform includes slats, so a mattress sits directly on the frame.

What mattress thickness works with it?

A standard king mattress, roughly 8 to 12 inches thick, fits well; a very thick mattress will cover more of the headboard.

The frame is rubberwood, a solid hardwood. The upholstered parts are fabric over padding.

It is a multi-step build with bolts and slats. Plan on an hour or more and have a second person help hold the headboard.

Yes. That is at the low end for a king upholstered platform bed, and only two stores list it new as of November 7, 2026.

Spot clean with a mild upholstery cleaner and avoid soaking the fabric. A removable cover is not included.
