- Will this work in a Cisco switch?
- It is coded for Cisco and follows the 1000Base-LX standard, so it should link in most Cisco SFP ports. Some IOS versions show a non-Cisco warning or need the service unsupported-transceiver command.
- What fiber and distance does it support?
- Single-mode fiber with dual-LC UPC connectors, up to 10km at 1310nm. It will not run over multimode fiber without mode-conditioning hardware.
- Is it really TAA compliant?
- The listing states TAA compliance, which is what government and education buyers need. Ask the seller for the country-of-origin documentation before a formal procurement.
- How is it different from a genuine Cisco GLC-LH-SMD?
- Same 1000Base-LX, 1310nm, 10km spec and DDM, but it is not Cisco-branded and costs a fraction of the genuine part. Cisco TAC may not support it.
- Does it support digital diagnostics?
- Yes, DDM is enabled, so you can read TX/RX power and temperature from the switch.
- What is in the box?
- One SFP module. Fiber patch cables are not included.
- Where is the Cisco GLC-LH-SMD Compatible 1000Base-LX SFP TAA Transceiver Module cheapest?
- At FluxLight, for $11.99, as of our latest check.
